Privacy Policy

Idle Discovery is a free-to-play idle adventure. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the game, keep it stable, and keep it free. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have — and it also covers this website.

1. Who we are

Idle Discovery (the "Game", "we", "us") is operated by Rui Milagaia, an independent developer based in Portugal. For any privacy question you can reach us at privacy@idlediscovery.com.

You do not need an account to play. There is no login, and we do not ask for your name, email, or phone number to start exploring.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what's needed to operate and improve the Game and this website:

Information you provide

• Support correspondence — if you email us, we receive your message and address so we can reply.

Information collected automatically

• Device & technical data — device model, operating system version, language, region, app version, and crash logs.
• Gameplay & usage analytics — anonymous events such as activities purchased, managers hired, upgrades bought, prestige resets, planets visited, and ads watched, used to balance and improve the Game.
• Identifiers — a device advertising identifier and an app-instance identifier (for analytics and advertising); a push notification token (only if you allow notifications); and, if you sign in, a Game Center or Google Play Games player identifier.
• Purchase records — if you buy something, the App Store or Google Play tells us that a purchase occurred, the product, and its status (for example, whether a subscription is active) so we can unlock it. We never receive your card number or full payment details.

Information stored on your device

• Your save file — your progress (discoveries, crew, upgrades, Field Notes, settings) is stored locally on your device. If you sign in to a platform game service, a copy is also backed up to the cloud (see Cloud saves & game services).

3. How we use information

• To run the core game loop, save and restore your progress, and calculate offline earnings.
• To diagnose crashes and fix bugs so the Game stays stable.
• To understand which features are used and to balance and improve gameplay.
• To deliver optional rewarded advertising and to measure its performance.
• To process and unlock your purchases.
• To send notifications you've opted into (such as event reminders) — you can turn these off anytime in your device settings.
• To respond to your support requests.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK)

Where the GDPR applies, we process data under these bases: legitimate interests (keeping the Game stable and improving it), performance of a contract (providing the Game and any purchases you choose), and consent (for personalized advertising, website analytics cookies, push notifications, and certain analytics, where required). You may withdraw consent at any time — through your device settings, our cookie banner, or by contacting us.

5. Who we share information with

We share limited data with service providers who help us run the Game and this website. They may only use it for the purposes we specify:

• Google Firebase — analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, remote configuration, and push messaging.
• Google AdMob — to serve and measure optional rewarded ads.
• Google Analytics & Google Ads — website usage analytics and measuring the performance of our advertising (see This website).
• Apple Game Center & Google Play Games — sign-in, achievements, and cloud-saved games.
• Apple App Store & Google Play — to distribute the Game and process any optional purchases.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our players, our visitors, and the Game.

6. Advertising

Idle Discovery includes optional, rewarded advertising — for example, watching a short video to double your offline earnings or extend a speed boost. You are never required to watch an ad to progress. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may use your advertising identifier to select and measure ads. You can limit ad personalization or reset your advertising ID in your device's privacy settings.

7. Cloud saves & game services

If you sign in to Apple Game Center (iOS) or Google Play Games (Android), the Game:

• backs up your save — your game progress, stored as a data file — to that service's cloud, so you can restore it on another device; and
• reports your achievement progress to that service.

These services are operated by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies, and your save is associated with your Game Center or Play Games account. We don't run our own accounts or save servers. To stop cloud syncing, sign out of Game Center or Play Games on your device. We can't access, control, or delete the copies Apple or Google hold — manage those through your Apple or Google account.

8. This website

This policy is hosted at idlediscovery.com. On the website we use:

• Google Analytics — to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring site). Google Analytics sets cookies. In the EEA/UK it loads only after you accept via our cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. Google Analytics 4 does not store your IP address. We have linked Google Analytics with Google Ads so we can measure how our advertising performs (for example, which campaigns lead to installs); we do not use it to build remarketing audiences or for cross-device tracking. You can manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
• Google Search Console — to monitor how the site performs in Google Search. It places no cookies on your device and collects no personal data from you directly.
• Google Fonts — the site loads fonts from Google's servers to render its typefaces, which involves your browser requesting the font files from Google.

Essential cookies (such as remembering your cookie choice) are always set because the site can't function without them; analytics cookies are only set with your consent.

9. International data transfers

We're based in Portugal, and our providers (including Google and Apple) may process data in the United States and other countries outside the EEA/UK. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK equivalent), to protect it.

10. Children's privacy

Idle Discovery is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age of digital consent in their region. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@idlediscovery.com and we will delete it.

11. Data retention

Your local save file remains on your device until you delete the Game or clear its data; any cloud save remains with Apple or Google until you remove it through your account. Analytics and crash data are retained on an aggregated or limited basis in line with our providers' standard retention periods. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.

12. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because the Game is playable without an account, the data tied to you is limited; the most direct controls are:

• Reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings.
• Manage cookie consent using the Cookie settings link in the website footer.
• Turn off notifications in your device settings.
• Sign out of Game Center or Play Games to stop cloud syncing.
• Delete your local data by uninstalling the Game or clearing its storage.
• Contact us at privacy@idlediscovery.com to exercise any applicable right; we will respond within the time required by law.

13. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you may request to know, delete, or correct the personal information we hold, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing", without being discriminated against. We do not sell your personal information for money. Some personalized advertising and analytics may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising; you can opt out by limiting ad personalization or resetting your advertising ID in your device settings, and by declining analytics in our cookie banner. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal on this website.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-game or on this site. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
